Presentation to Bill Polson to mark 45 years service to ESCA

At the AGM last week, Bill Polson was presented with a Quaich by Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade to mark 45 years on the ESCA Committee:

“Cricket can only survive and prosper through its army of volunteers.

Clubs rely on volunteers to fulfil all sorts of different roles – secretaries, treasurers, groundspeople, coaches, umpires scorers and many more.

Many clubs here tonight will have long serving volunteers who are highly valued, without whom the clubs would not function.

However, it is unusual for a regional association to have a volunteer who has served it for decades in different roles.

ESCA has one and the Committee considered it was appropriate tonight to recognise the long service of one of the Committee.

Bill Polson has served on the ESCA Committee for 45 years. He has always contributed positively to the Committee with the club game at the heart of his contributions. Bill was Secretary of the Association early on in his tenure and he ran for many years the predecessor to what is now the Eastern Knights.

Bill, thank you for all your service to ESCA and for all you have done for cricket in the East of Scotland.”

It will be a long time before anyone else can demonstrate this level of commitment to ESCA.  Thank you Bill.
