Alun Davies – Carlton CC
Cricketers, officials and supporters in the East of Scotland and further afield will be saddened to learn of the passing of former Carlton captain and President, Alun Davies.
Alun hailed from South Wales and made a huge contribution to the fortunes of the Grange Loan club as a right arm opening bowler and a powerful left handed middle order batsman. Off the field he worked tirelessly to develop and promote the club and became its President.
He also served the the wider cricket community through his contributions to ESCA and the what is now Cricket Scotland. He had a term as President of both these organisations.
Our sympathy goes to his family and the members of Carlton Cricket Club.
In celebration of his life, a funeral service is to be held at Mortonhall Crematorium ( EH16 6TX ) at 1 pm on Thursday 3rd October followed by a reception at Mortonhall Golf Club, Braid Road ( EH10 6PB ).
All who wish to pay their respects will be welcome at the service and reception.
